On the West Coast of Tassie, they often say, “Find a way, or make a way”. For the inaugural DIVERGE Skyruns in 2026, we re-made the way as well. We reclaimed the 120-year-old Lyell-Comstock rail formation from the bush and re-opening some other trails required.

Here's how one 2026 participant described that:

"I loved the Comstock railway track clearing section. I have hiked the area fairly extensively and never really seen it except for on old maps. The historical cuttings and landworks, overgrown with rainforest but still visible were epic. It was like re-discovering a different time period - a theatre of archeology. There is a portion where you erupt out of the scrub and are perched on a skinny ledge with bedded,purple cliffs slabbing both above and below you, and you can see down into the wild Comstock valley and Lake Burbry glimmers a dark ominous blue colour across half the vista. Ahead, the iron stained crater of the legacy Comstock Mine reveals itself. In this region you can feel alone and wild and taken outside a normal race environment."
